Arthur Baghdasaryan: NATO exercises are brilliant example of international cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Secretary of the RA National Security Council (NSC) Arthur Baghdasaryan said that Armenia 2010 NATO exercises on eliminating consequences of emergency situations are of keen importance, taking into consideration the fact that rescuers of 29 countries and four international organizations arrived in Armenia.

The exercises in Armenia are a brilliant example of international cooperation, as well as excellent collaboration between Armenia and NATO within the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan, Baghdasaryan told journalists in Lusakert.

“Armenia cooperates with NATO in several basic directions, including formation of the system for effective prevention of emergency situations, which will be in compliance with international standards,” he said, adding that the exercises are of practical importance.

The RA NSC Secretary said that there is an agreement on holding similar exercises once in several years, so that the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations is ready for prevention of catastrophes.

Arthur Baghdasaryan reiterated that a range of important decisions was adopted during the CSTO informal summit, including formation of a single system for prevention of emergency situations within the Organization’s framework.

According to him, a model will be submitted by the yearend, which is aimed at provision of assistance in the field of emergency situations among all the CSTO member countries.
