$2.3mln invested in Ararat region of Armenia under WB loan programSeptember 30, 2010 - 19:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 30, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Ararat town to participate in the official ceremony of commissioning of a renovated medical center there. Ararat Medical Center was renovated under the WB lending program on Armenia’s Health System Modernization, while the total investments for the center rehabilitation amounted to $1.54mln. According to Director of the center Araik Sardaryan, in addition to repair works, the center has been completely reequipped, allowing provision of a high-quality medical service to patients. Besides, now the center has space bridge opportunities. “At any point we can contact leading medical centers of the capital to obtain a consultation,” said Sardaryan. Currently, the center provides services to around 40,000 residents of Ararat and neighboring settlements. “The center’s reconstruction is a consecutive step after rehabilitation of medical centers in Hrazdan, Ijevan and Armavir, and it is in compliance with the governmental program on equal development of the country’s regions,” said Armenian Healthcare Minister Harutyun Kushkyan. He added that similar construction works are under way in various region of the country, with another reconstructed medical center to be opened in Goris (Syunik region) in the beginning of 2011. Kushkyan added that 273 health workers have been retrained under the Program of Advanced Training of Family Doctors. The total investments in Ararat region under the WB loan program amounted to $2.3mln.
