YSLU introduces new course for MA students

PanARMENIAN.Net - On February 16, Yerevan State Linguistic University (YSLU) will introduce a new course on the role of media in the process of European integration for MA students from the Department of International Journalism.

Successful advancement of European integration depends on the level of public awareness of the EU, its structures and legislation, and the society’s attitude towards Europe. By introducing a course on the role of media in European integration, the university endeavors to contribute to a better awareness of the benefits and opportunities of European integration among young journalists and, subsequently, the general public.

The course will become an integral part of the official curriculum of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Democracy and European Studies at YSLU. It comprises lectures and outreach activities about the EU history and institutions, development and prospects of EU-Armenia relations, as well as the role played by media in the European integration of other countries.

The course also includes training on relevant skills, such as selection of reliable information sources, adequate situational analysis and transmission of media products to the public. New media technologies will be applied to make the course more interactive and to encourage networking.

The main expected results of the program are deepening the knowledge of students on EU and European integration, and raising public awareness in the long-term, AEPLAC reported.
