Ohanyan: absence of military-patriotic education poses threat to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 16, Yerevan hosted consultations by Ministers of Defense, Education and Science, Sport and Youth Affairs, as well as Armenian police, who summed up the outcomes of works on military-patriotic education at Armenian secondary and vocational schools in 2011.

During the meeting, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan favored the steps taken over the past years towards boosting patriotic morale among both young generation and society, adding that its absence poses a threat to the country.

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, in turn, stressed the importance of military-patriotic education both for defense, education systems and Armenian society.

“Our value system is in need of protection and preservation as certain forces aim to distort traditional values. However despite all these attempts we will not allow them to introduce fake values,” Minister Ashotyan said, stressing the need to double efforts to promote military-patriotic education in Armenian society.
