20 years ago, on May 9, 1992, the day of victory in the Great Patriotic War Shushi, the Stalingrad of Karabakh war was liberated, becoming a turning point and paving the way for Armenia’s future victories. This small town, an unassailable fortress surrounded by a deep gorge instilled confidence in Armenians in possible liberation of Artsakh from Azerbaijani yoke.

For personal bravery, 57 individuals, 8 of them posthumously, were awarded with the Medal "For Liberation of Shoushi".

Every tree planted at Yerablur will be named after a fallen warrior who sacrificed his life during the Karabakh war.

“May 9, 1992 once again became a symbol – this time of the Armenian triumph, the symbol of resolve and immortality,” the President said.
