PanARMENIAN.Net - Official Baku has asked for more precise information from the Russian party over the placing of part of the military equipment from the Russian military bases in Georgia in the territory of Armenia, Azeri Foreign Minister
Elmar Mamedyarov told journalists, reported Trend news agency. In his words, during the meeting with temporary Charge d'Affaires of Russia in Azerbaijan Pyotr Burdykin he asked for more information on what the transfer will finish in. «Let us wait. Talks continue between Georgia and Russia over the matter,» the Minister said. He noted that he got some information over placing part of the equipment at the Russian base in Armenia from the press, however he does not have any official information over it. «Official representatives of Russia should give us an official response,» Mamedyarov said. He underscored Russia does not violate the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty by placing part of its arms being in Georgia in the territory of its base in Armenia. «It is not a matter of the CFE Treaty, as the arms are being placed at the Russian base and are not conveyed to Armenia. We put a question this way: the transfer of arms is an incorrect move, as there is a conflict available in the region and we need more demilitarization than militarization,» the Azeri FM said. In his words he had discussed the matter with Georgian FM Salome Zurabishvili and she reported Azerbaijan's concerns at the talks with Russia. «Now we have to wait. What kind of agreement is signed and when - this depends not only from Azerbaijan and Russia, but also from the Georgian-Russian talks,» Mamedyarov summed up.
