Committee on Caucasus holds first sitting in Federation Council of Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The initial sitting of Committee on Caucasus Issues (Caucasus Committee) was held Monday in Federation Council of Russia under presidency of the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council, Caucasus Committee head Alexander Torshin.



The Committee on Caucasus formed on the initiative of Federation Council of Russia is a standing consultative body under the Legislative Council.



Its main tasks are collection, analysis and generalization of information on constitutional rights and freedoms of Russian citizens residing in Caucasian region, monitoring of RF Legislation on regional development, creation of legislative initiatives on legal provision of national security, prevention of national and religious hostility, establishment of parliamentary control on the realization of governmental programs on social and economic development in Caucasian region and settlement of other important issues, Regions.ru reports.
