Azerbaijani side has not followed relevant procedures for submitting claim to ECHR

PanARMENIAN.Net - Representative of the Armenian government in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Gevorg Kostanyan said that Armenia, the respondent in Chiragov and Others against Armenia case, has provided two basic arguments to the ECHR.

“First, the case is not subject to consideration of the European Court of Human Rights. Besides, Azerbaijanis have not followed the relevant procedures for submitting a claim to the ECHR. However, the most important argument of Armenia is that the country does not have power over NKR and adjacent territories,” said Kostanyan.

According to him, judges have been provided with facts and arguments certifying that the NKR authorities independently solve social, economic, political and military problems, although the Republic of Artsakh is not recognized.

On September 15, ECHR hosted hearings for the case entitled Chiragov and Others against Armenia. Hearings for the case Sargsyan against Azerbaijan will be held in the second half of the day. The cases indicate pertain to the Karabakh conflict, specifically, the citizens’ rights to property.
