Provision on Karabakh included into Francophonie Summit closing resolution

PanARMENIAN.Net - On October 23-24, Francophonie Summit was held in Montreux, Switzerland, in the framework of the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF). Armenian delegation led by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was invited to participate.

At the summit, the Minister emphasized the role of OIF in promoting peace and harmony between the countries through multicultural dialogue. Nalbandian noted that the resolution to hold 2011 Francophone Cities’ General Assembly in Yerevan proves Armenia’s assessment as a reliable partner to the organization.

Closing resolution of the Summit included a provision stipulating the Organization’s support for OSCE MG efforts aimed at peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict.

Abdou Diouf, OIF Secretary General was re-elected to his position, Foreign Ministry press service reported.
