Seyran Ohanyan draws EU attention to Baku’s irresponsible statements and provocations

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 10, as part of his visit to Brussels, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with Miroslav Lajcak, Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia, European External Action Service, and Gunnar Wiegand, European Commission’s Director for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The parties discussed security of the South Caucasus and the Karabakh conflict peace settlement. The parties noted that it is necessary to implement confidence-building measures in the region.

The Armenian Minister said that ceasefire violation at the line of contact between the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces is unacceptable after the March 5 agreement reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents. Ohanyan noted that the number of killed is growing as a result of irresponsible statements and speculation of Azerbaijan, as well as provocations at the line of contact.

For their part, EU representatives attached importance to a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict, expressing willingness to assist the process of confidence-building between the parties.
