CFF pledges to re-launch Armenian Genocide museum and memorial project

PanARMENIAN.Net - Speaking on behalf of the Cafesjian Family Foundation in the morning of April 24, CFF board member Ross Vartian pledged once again to re-launch the Armenian Genocide museum and memorial project.

Working together with the entire Armenian community, CFF hopes to complete the ambitious project by April 2015, the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Vartian said.

Vartian delivered the following statement before members of the press on the steps of the National Bank of Washington building, the site of the museum and memorial project:

”The Cafesjian Family Foundation's officers and staff join Armenians and others of good will around the world in commemorating the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Securing universal affirmation of the fact and ongoing consequences of the first genocide of the twentieth century serves the memory of our martyrs and survivors and the cause of genocide prevention.

Towards this noble purpose, the Cafesjian Family Foundation led the successful effort to acquire properties two blocks from the White House and continues to fight for the entire property assemblage being utilized exclusively for a museum and memorial about the Armenian Genocide.

The Foundation calls upon the leadership of the Armenian Assembly to cease blocking the project and instead to abide by the January 26, 2011 ruling of the court which ordered the transfer of all properties to the Foundation effective December 31, 2010. Further delay serves no constructive purpose.

The Cafesjian Family Foundation pledges once again to re-launch this project with the participation of all interested organizations and individuals. We will do so in common cause and urgent purpose. Together we will complete this first ever museum and memorial in the Diaspora dedicated to this crime against humanity by April 24, 2015. Our martyrs and survivors deserve nothing less.”
