Armenia to start construction of North-South highway

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan received Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Ali Saghaiyan.

Greeting the guest, the Armenian Minister noted that large-scale road construction works will start in the country soon, including the first stage of North-South highway construction, the Ministry’s press service reported.

In his turn, the Ambassador said that Iranian companies are interested in financing of the highway construction.

At the Ambassador’s request, Mr. Vardanyan also briefed on the process of implementation of the program on North-South highway construction, in which the Asian Bank of Development, China and Russia are interested.

The Minister stressed that one can speak about financial sources only after a feasibility study.

The Iranian Ambassador also referred to increase in number of buses implementing passengers’ transportation between the two countries. The parties also attached importance to the gained achievements in the fields of communication and telecommunications, as well as discussed possibilities for boosting cooperation in the postal field.
