Greater volumes of wheat imported to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to the RA State Revenue Committee, 147,852t of wheat were imported to Armenia at the amount of $36.998mln in the first half of 2010 against 126,841t ($32.160mln) during the same period in 2009.

Salex Group company, owned by member of the Armenian parliament Samvel Alexanyan, dominates in the flour and wheat market with 42.05%, it is followed by Manan Grain with 36.7%. Meanwhile, Salex Group and Manan Grain secure around 80% of Armenia’s internal market.

Basically, Armenia imports grain from Russia – 300,000-400,000thous t per year.
