Armenian families to spend $500 for New Year meal on average

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the Association of Consumers of Armenia Armen Poghosyan said that the Armenian families with low income will spend about $500 for New Year meal.

According to him, the difference between New Year expenses of families with low and high incomes is 6-10 times, while this difference reaches 21 times in Armenia.

“The rise in prices does not make difference for around 12-20% of Armenia’s population. Meanwhile, 50% of the country’s population is on the verge of poverty,” he said.

Besides, Poghosyan believes that the rights of Armenian consumers are especially unprotected on the threshold of the New Year. “During this period, lots of low-quality products of an unknown origin appear in shops,” said Poghosyan.
