Azerbaijani ambassador won’t attend Yerevan festivities

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Soviet-era singer and composer Polad Bülbüloğlu refused to visit Yerevan for its World Book Capital 2012 celebrations.

Spokesperson for the festive events organizing committee, Nune Alexanyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that despite a prior agreement with Bülbüloğlu, he recently refused to come to Armenia and participate in the ceremony.

Yerevan will get the World Book Capital 2012 title on April 22. The grand ceremony will feature mayor of World Book Capital 2011 Buenos Aires Mauricio Macri presenting the title to Yerevan’s mayor Taron Margaryan.

Armenia’s State Academic choir will perform the city anthem; the event will be attended by UNESCO Deputy Director-General Getachew Engida and over 50 other guests including representatives of Book Capital of 2013 Bangkok.

Following the title transfer ceremony, a 3D show will be demonstrated with participation of Armenia's, Argentina’s and Thailand’s entertainers.

Yerevan will have its World Book Capital title for one year.
