Shooting incident in election campaign in Armenia’s Masis town - paper

PanARMENIAN.Net - Election campaign tension resulted in shootings in the town of Masis on May 3 night, Hraparak paper reports.

Here representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Prosperous Armenia rival for the victory in May 6 parliamentary election. RPA nominated former environment minister Murad Muradyan, while Prosperous Armenia pushes its MP Tigran Stepanyan.

Tensions were so high recently that the two rivaling teams clashed in a central square in Masis in a shooting encounter, Hraparak says.

According to the paper, police arrived on the scene late at night; no details of the incident are clear so far.
