The head of state met with the leaders of conservative New Democracy, the Socialists and Syriza, a radical leftist party that rejects the terms of an EU-IMF bailout. Sources say New Democracy is asking for a two-year interim government to be appointed. Three attempts ended in failure last week, the reported stumbling block being Syriza’s anti-austerity stance.
