Iran claims monopoly on missile-launching speedboats production

PanARMENIAN.Net - A senior Iranian naval commander said the Islamic Republic has a monopoly on the production of missile-launching speedboats and has deployed thousands of such vessels in its fleet, Press TV reported.

Iran is the only country that enjoys speedboats with the capability to fire rockets and missiles at high speed, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said on Sunday, May 13.

"We now have speedboats that can launch missiles at the speed of over 60 kilometers per hour," he said.

Rear Admiral Fadavi further noted that Iran has thousands of such high-speed vessels.

Rear Admiral Fadavi said in March that speed boats, specially the newly mass-produced missile-launching vessels, have granted greater mobility and might to the IRGC Navy, and promoted it to a unique force in the world.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the state's defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.
