Protests banned at Istanbul airport June 13, 2012 - 15:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Atatürk Airport Security Commission and the Istanbul deputy governor have banned all labor protests in the airport territory. As Hurriyet Daily News reported citing Doğan agency, the commission, which made the decision in a monthly meeting, announced that authorities would put an to end to all ongoing protests at Atatürk Airport that are being conducted in response to Turkish Airlines’ decision to recently fire over 300 workers for participating in labor action. Hundreds of workers were laid off by the company after participating in the action to protest draft legislation banning strikes and lockouts in the aviation industry late last month. The law went into effect after it was announced in the Official Gazette on June 3 following President Abdullah Gül’s approval.
