Ferrari charity auction raises €1.8 millionJune 21, 2012 - 14:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ferrari held an auction where it sold off a one-of-a-kind 599XXEVO racing car along with a bunch of other Ferrari items, SlashGear reports. The auction was held for charity in an effort to raise money to benefit the families of the victims of earthquakes that struck on May 20 and May 29 at Emilia-Romagna. The auction raised a total of €1.8 million in all the money will be donated. The vast majority the money came from one item in the auction, which happened to be epic. Ferrari built and sold a one-of-a-kind 599XX race car purchased by an American client for €1.4 million. Aside from being a one-of-a-kind Ferrari, it will also have a special commemorative plaque signed by Ferrari chairman Lucia di Montezmolo and two Scuderia drivers. The owner will also have the special vehicle delivered by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa at the next Italian Gran Prix at Monza. Other items in the auction included a Ferrari F60 nosecone purchased in the United States for €23,000. The engine from the F2008 that won the constructors world title in 2008 was purchased for €80,000 by a buyer in Great Britain. Ferrari also sold Scuderia Ferrari watches and accepted donations to raise money for charity.
