Vanes Martirosyan says will fight Saul Alvarez “anytime, anywhere”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Saul "Canelo" Alvarez saw his third scheduled opponent for his September 15 return fall through when Victor Ortiz quit on his stool after suffering a fractured jaw in his fight against Josesito Lopez. Alvarez had been previously scheduled to face Paul Williams and James Kirkland, BoxingScene said.

Shortly after Ortiz's loss, BoxingScene spoke to undefeated junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (32-0). The Armenian fighter has pushed for a fight against Alvarez for quite some time and judging by his Twitter account, several fans would like to see the match up as well.

"For months I have received Tweets from fans wanting to see me fight Canelo. Last night the battery died on my phone I received so many (laughing)," Martirosyan told BoxingScene.

Martirosyan faces Ryan Davis (24-9) in a stay busy fight on July 7 in Carson, CA on the undercard of the Nonito Donaire-Jeffrey Mathebula HBO televised fight.

The Top Rank promoted fighter hopes to land a big fight soon and closed our conversation with a message for Alvarez's promoter.

"I have a message for Oscar (De La Hoya) and Golden Boy. You don't need to look around for an opponent for Canelo. I will fight him anytime, anywhere," Martirosyan said.
