UN chief to attend NAM summit in Tehran – spokesman![]() August 21, 2012 - 14:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran's spokesman for the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit Mohammad Reza Forqani announced that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon “will certainly attend” the 16th heads-of-state conference of the NAM in Tehran later this month. "Despite rumors, the presence of the UN Secretary-General in the Tehran conference is for sure," Fars News Agency quoted Forqani as saying. "The calls, demands and pressures to prevent Mr Ban's attendance were ineffective and the UN chief will certainly visit Tehran," he added. Earlier, Forqani said that at least 100 NAM members have confirmed participation in the event. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
