Palestine denies reports on UN bid delayNovember 10, 2012 - 14:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Palestinian Authority on Saturday, Nov 10, denied Israeli media reports that PA President Mahmoud Abbas was considering delaying the Palestinians’ bid to upgrade their UN status to that of non-member state until January. PA officials have said Abbas was considering asking for a UN vote on November 15 or 29. However, Israeli media reports suggested that Abbas may delay the vote in order to give newly reelected U.S. President Barack Obama the opportunity to introduce a fresh peace initiative. Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, dismissed the reports on Saturday. “It’s for sure that the decision has been made and there is no going back. We will go to the UN to demand a state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital,” the Bethlehem-based Ma'an News Agency cited him as saying.
