Number of tourists visiting Israel drops sharply

PanARMENIAN.Net - During operation Pillar of Defense in November, tourism in Israel dropped some 43%, the Central Bureau of Statistics said Monday, Dec 10, according to The Jerusalem Post.

During the military operation in Gaza, tourism fell from an average of 9,800 tourist entries per week to 5,600.

All-in-all, however, tourism in Israel was up. From January to November, 2012, some 3.3 million visitors passed through Israel, a 6 percent increase from the same period the previous year.

Of those, 223 million of the entries were tourists, defined as those who entered and left the country on different dates.
