IRGC to hold naval wargames in Strait of Hormuz

PanARMENIAN.Net - Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi announced that the IRGC plans to hold naval wargames in the strategic Strait of Hormuz within the next few months, Fars news agency reported.

"We will hold drills in the Strait of Hormuz by the end of this (Iranian) year (ends on March 20)," Fadavi told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz hosted by Tehran on Monday, Dec 17.

He further noted the major role of drills in the IRGC's military doctrine, and said every year the IRGC stages at least one declared naval wargame and a number of undeclared exercises.

"Americans do not know the power of the IRGC Navy," Fadavi said.

On Nov 4, the IRGC established a new Navy zone in a bid to boost defensive measures in waters surrounding Iran's islands in the Persian Gulf.
