Support for Turkey’s ruling AK Party declines

PanARMENIAN.Net - A survey conducted by the Konsensus Research and Consultancy Company for the Habertürk daily has shown a slight decline in support for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in local elections in comparison to the results of the previous survey, Today’s Zaman reported.

Turkey will hold local elections in the fall of 2013. The survey was conducted among 1,500 people across 81 provinces.

When asked “Which party would you vote for in the local elections?” 50.4 percent of the respondents said they would vote for the AK Party, 27.9 percent said the Republican People's Party (CHP) while 13 percent of the respondents said they would vote for the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

The Konsensus had conducted another survey in September asking some of the same questions including the voting tendencies for local elections. At that time, 53.2 percent of the participants said they would vote for the ruling AK Party.
