Layer confirms Chakhalyan release possibility under amnesty law

PanARMENIAN.Net - Parliamentary Chairman Davit Usupashvili signed on January 12 an amnesty bill into law authorizing the release of about 3,000 prisoners, as well as reduction of prison terms for thousands of others.

190 inmates, recognized by the Parliament’s December 5 resolution as political prisoners, will be the first to be released under the law.

As the attorney of Vahagn Chakhalyan, Stepan Voskanyan told PanARMENIAN.Net the name of the leader of United Javakhk Democratic Alliance was also included in the list, which means that he will probably be released the next day after the law enters into force.
