Presidential hopeful Hovannisian holds meetings in Paris![]() January 17, 2013 - 15:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian presidential candidate and former foreign minister, Heritage party leader Raffi K. Hovannisian met with Paul Jean-Ortiz, the chief diplomatic counsellor of French President Francois Hollande. The official encounter, which included a discussion of Armenia’s upcoming elections, its state of democracy, Armenian-EU relations and Yerevan’s foreign policy priorities for the future, took place at the Elysee, France’s presidential palace. Earlier, Raffi Hovannisian participated in a public forum with the French-Armenian community, delivering an address and taking questions on the combined challenges facing Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) and the Armenian Diaspora. Partner news The military academy will be named after legendary commanders of Armenian origin Alexander Suvorov and Valerian Mandatov. French Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Jacques Faure said the co-chairs are not planning a visit to Nagorno Karabakh. Last month, renowned Turkish pianist Fazıl Say was also handed a suspended 10-month prison sentence for blasphemy.
