Hezbollah official facing execution in Lebanon

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lebanon’s military attorney general demanded the execution of a Hezbollah official, who is charged of carrying out an assassination attempt of a Lebanese politician last summer, Al Arabiya reports.

The Lebanese government’s deputy at the military council filed a lawsuit against Hezbollah’s Mahmoud Hayek for the assassination attempt against House of Representative’s member, Boutrus Harb, in his office. Hayek was also accused of committing terrorist acts, which according to some articles in the penal law, lead to execution, the London-based Asharq al-Aqwsat newspaper said.

After investigation, security forces found out that Hayek was a Hezbollah official. Hayek’s wife told the investigators that any demand concerning her husband would have had to go through a security committee in Hezbollah.

The goal of summoning Hayek was to compare his face to drawings of suspects in the assassination attempt and take his fingerprints and DNA to match with what was found in the crime scene.

The internal security forces issued a warrant to arrest and locate Hayek as many attempts failed to summon him without Hezbollah’s permission.
