Int’l observers to present post-election statement in Georgia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The international observers monitoring the presidential election in Georgia will present their preliminary post-election statement at a news conference on Monday, Oct 28, in Tbilisi.

The mission is a joint undertaking of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the European Parliament (EP) and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA).

According to a press release, the statement will be delivered by João Soares, Special Coordinator to lead the short-term OSCE observer mission, followed by Meritxell Mateu Pi, Head of the PACE delegation, Ilkka Kanerva, Head of the OSCE PA delegation, Mati Raidma, Head of the NATO PA delegation, Krzysztof Lisek, the Head of the EP delegation, and Matteo Mecacci, the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR long-term election observation mission.

The International Election Observation Mission comprises a total of 401 observers from 45 countries, including 274 long-term and short-term observers deployed by the OSCE/ODIHR, as well as 65 parliamentarians and staff from the OSCE PA, 32 from PACE, 19 from the NATO PA, and 11 from the EP.
