YerevanShow-2013 int'l jewellery exhibit opens in Yerevan October 28, 2013 - 16:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and first lady Rita Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony of YerevanShow-2013 3rd international jewellery exhibition. Karen Demirchyan Sports & Concert Complex is hosting the Armenian Jewellers Association-initiated event to last through October 30. Armenia is the only country worldwide to celebrate Jeweller’s Day as a state holiday (marked on the last Sunday in October.) To participate in the exhibition are well-known jewellery and watch manufacturers and distributors from Armenia, Russia, U.S., Canada, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE., UK, Lebanon, Egypt, Thailand, Hong Kong, Argentina, China, Jordan, Israel, Greece and other countries. The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) president Gaetano Cavalieri, Malca-Amit Global Limited CEO Nigel Paxman and other top figures in the jewellery production sector will attend the event. A conference on current state of the jewellery sector will be held on the sidelines of the exhibit, with AJA president Gagik Gevorgyan to present an importance project – creation of a free jewellery economic zone in Yerevan to promote international awareness of the Armenian capital in the jewellery sector. A new research foundation - Armenian Jewellers Foundation (AJF) - will also be introduced at the event. 58 927 carats of diamond were produced in Armenia in January-August 2013, up by 49,2% carats from the year-earlier period.
