Over $22,5 million raised at Armenia Fund’s International TelethonNovember 29, 2013 - 11:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Over $22,5 million was raised during the Armenia Fund-hosted 16th International Telethon. The event was held Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013 from 8am to 8pm PST. Proceeds from the Telethon will benefit the construction of the Vardenis to Martakert Highway – linking the northern regions of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. The highway will help link villages and cities and will promote socio-economic development, boost trade, and cooperation in both countries regions. By functioning as a direct road link, the highway will significantly cut down travel times, boost the economies of scores of Artsakh communities along its path, stimulate inter-community ties, and vastly improve geographic access for implementing local development initiatives. Currently the only land-travel link between Artsakh and Armenia is the Berdzor community, through which passes the Goris-Stepanakert Highway.
