Russia to display its latest weapons at exhibit in Jordan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport will display its latest weapons systems and military hardware at the SOFEX-2014 exhibition this week in Jordan, the company has said, according to RIA Novosti.

The company said it expects potential buyers are likely to pay particular attention to Russian noiseless and flameless weapons, sniper rifles, submachine guns and special melee weapons.

"Among them are the PP-2000 submachine gun, OSV-96 heavy semi-automatic sniper rifle, compact grenade launcher complex MGK Boer, PP-19-01 Vityaz submachine gun, special carbine 18.5 COP-K and the GM-94 police grenade launcher," the company said in a statement.

"Along with the special equipment and weapons, we are willing to talk about the main Russian export samples of land vehicles, as well as Mi-17 and Ka-226T helicopters, which can be actively used in special operations against extremist and terrorist groups," the press service said, citing the head of the Rosoboronexport delegation, Valery Varlamov.

Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport sold $13.2 billion in weapons and military equipment to foreign buyers last year, fulfilling 1,202 orders and deliveries to 60 countries. Among the major importers of Russian weapons and military equipment were India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Venezuela, Algeria and Malaysia.

Aircraft amounted to nearly 40 percent of the company’s sales last year, followed by anti-aircraft defense systems at just over 25 percent.
