OSCE MG Co-Chair talks Karabakh settlement, Armenia’s EEU accessionOctober 24, 2014 - 18:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict depends on political will of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and not on treaties or alliances, U.S. Co-Chair of OSCE Minsk Group, James Warlick told Trend Oct 23, the news agency reported. Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan are expected to meet for Karabakh talks on October 27 in Paris. He went on to comment on the possible impact of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The Co-Chair said the government of Armenia has made its decision, which he respects. “We hope, with the recent contacts between the Presidents they will commit themselves to a settlement,” Warlick said. Armenia signed a treaty on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union Oct 10 in Minsk. The treaty will enter force Jan 1, 2015 after ratification by the EEU states – Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. “Conditions along the line of contact and Armenian-Azerbaijani border have stabilized after the outbreak of violence this summer. But the situation remains tense,” he added. Over the past months, repeated Azeri attacks against Armenia and Karabakh have resulted in over 20 deaths at the line of contact.
