Iraq plans to ask NATO for help training its security forces

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iraq plans to ask NATO for help training its security forces, the alliance said on Wednesday, Dec 3, months after the Iraqi army collapsed in the face of an offensive by Islamic State militants, according to Reuters.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi informed NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at a meeting that Baghdad would lodge the request, NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said.

NATO ambassadors will review the request, once the alliance receives it, she said.
