Azerbaijan repatriates family of Armenian defector

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan handed over the family of defector Yeghishe Gevorgyan to Armenia, Azeri media said citing the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People.

The family was repatriated through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Armenia-Azerbaijan border, representative of ICRC Yerevan office said.

On Jan 10, 2010, Gevorgyan, who was escaping justice in Armenia, crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border at the Yeraskh-Nakhichevan road section with his wife and three children. Gevorgyan (born 1958) was convicted eight times in Armenia for robbery and involvement in a murder.
