Azeris fire at civilian vehicle in Armenian border infiltration attempt

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian armed forces continue to control the situation along the border with Azerbaijan after rebuffing a fresh infiltration attempt by an Azeri commando unit overnight, military authorities in Yerevan said on Thursday, Jan 29, Armenia Now reports.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the attack occurred at the Voskepar-Kirants border section of Armenia’s Tavush province where the Azeri commando group fired at a civilian vehicle. None of the passengers were injured.

The attack was repelled by the Armenian side.

According to the Ministry, Azerbaijani troops continued to violate the ceasefire at different sections of the border over the night, firing from different caliber weapons.

The advanced units of the Armenian Armed Forces retaliated only during targeted violations, the Ministry report said.

At least 10 Armenian servicemen and one civilian have been killed at Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan and the line of contact in Nagorno Karabakh since the early 2015.
