Energy supply restrictions out if ENA chief competence: ministerJune 18, 2015 - 18:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - General director of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Yevgeniy Bibin is not authorized to restrict energy supplies in the country, Armenia’s minister of energy and natural resources Yervand Zakharyan said in his interview to Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper, commenting Bibin’s recent letter to the Public Service Regulatory Commission. According to ARKA, yesterday (June 17), the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) set new electricity tariffs for the population, having raised the price by AMD 6.93 to AMD 48.78 for daytime consumption and to AMD 38.78 drams per kilowatt-hour at nighttime, compared to the increase of AMD 17.08 asked for in ENA’s bid. On Tuesday, Bibin sent a letter to the head of PSRC saying that if the tariff was increased by AMD 6.93 only, the company would fail to ensure the quality standards and the reliability of supplies, as well as the investments required to raise the service level. The newspaper says Zakharyan has not gone through the letter himself. “I cannot say anything as I do not know the content of the letter, honestly. Bibin cannot avoid supplying electricity, as it is beyond his competence,” the minister told the newspaper.
