Foreign Minister: Azerbaijan stands at nothing to escalate situation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met Thursday, September 24 with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs Igor Popov, James Warlick and Pierre Andrieu as well as the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk in New York, the Ministry’s press office reports.

Nalbandian expressed resentment to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs over Azerbaijan’s ceasefire violations, which resulted in civilian losses.

“Azerbaijan has a habit of escalating the situation at the line of contact with Nagorno Karabakh and on the border with Armenia ahead of important visits to the region and high-level meetings,” Nalbandian said.

Possible steps aimed at the stabilization of the situation were discussed at the meeting.

OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair James Warlick twitted earlier that the Co-chairs are "in touch with officials in Armenia and Azerbaijan about renewed violence urging an end to attacks and reprisals."
