Russia, EU talk security in S. Caucasus, Nagorno Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Herbert Salber discussed the situation in the South Caucasus, including in Nagorno Karabakh, Interfax cited the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying.

According to the statement, the parties focused on the situation in the S. Caucasus in view of current global tensions, the fight against terrorism and threats to security and stability for the countries of the region.

During the Moscow-hosted meeting, the officials particularly stressed the importance of the situation on the borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as the EU Monitoring Mission's activities.

The two diplomats reaffirmed "mutual determination to continue constructive interaction between Russia and the European Union in the course of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus. They also dwelled on the Nagorno Karabakh settlement process," the ministry said.
