Russia’s Lavrov to visit Armenia Apr 21-22April 19, 2016 - 16:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Armenia on April 21-22 to discuss the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Armenia's Foreign Ministry said. Lavrov is set to meet with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian and President Serzh Sargsyan. “During his stopover, Minister Lavrov will hold a range of bilateral meetings with a special focus on the Karabakh peace process,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. Also, the Russian Foreign policy chief will visit Tsitsernakaberd to honor the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on April 8 met with Lavrov in Moscow. The officials focused on the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone. During the meeting, Lavrov said that from the very beginning of the escalation, Russia exerted effort to achieve a ceasefire. He deemed the use of force in the Karabakh conflict zone unacceptable, stressing the importance of observing the ceasefire maintenance deal to prevent recurrence of such situations. According to Lavrov, it's essential to create appropriate conditions to continue the negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. Both Ministers attached great importance to the implementation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs' proposals on strengthening the ceasefire. Also, Lavrov briefed Nalbandian on the Baku-hosted Russia-Azerbaijan meetings.
