France ready to host meeting of Armenian, Azeri Presidents: envoy

PanARMENIAN.Net - As a Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France has already expressed its readiness to host a meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents, APA cited French ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez as saying Tuesday, June 21.

France welcomes the outcome of the meeting on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict which took place in St. Petersburg on June 20, Bouchez said.

“It’s only through a steady and frank dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia that a peaceful solution to the conflict will be reached,” the ambassador said.

“The Minsk Group Co-chairs will continue fulfilling their duties as mediators between the two parties to the conflict and will pursue efforts towards the implementation of confidence building measures and the conclusion of a comprehensive and peaceful settlement of the conflict.”

Following the summit in Saint Petersburg, the sides adopted a declaration which reads:

"The Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents confirmed their commitment to the implementation of agreements reached at a Vienna-hosted meeting on May 16. To that end, they have agreed to increase the number of international observers in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone. Also, they expressed satisfaction that the ceasefire was now holding."

The Presidents emphasized the importance of regular meetings to resolve the issue and pledged to hold such summits regularly."
