Brazil Senate president faces trial for embezzlement: court

PanARMENIAN.Net - The president of Brazil's Senate, Renan Calheiros, will face trial for alleged embezzlement, the Supreme Court said Thursday, December 1, the latest development in a political drama threatening to destabilize President Michel Temer, AFP reports.

Supreme Court judges in a ruling upheld charges brought by prosecutors who allege that Temer's major ally Calheiros embezzled public funds.
