Baku gets prominent blogger arrested over Karabakh visit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Popular LiveJournal blogger Alexander Lapshin, otherwise known as puerrtto, was detained in Minsk, Belarus overnight on December 14-15.

Lapshin was detained at the request of Azerbaijan for the "illegal" (according to the Azerbaijani authorities) visit to Nagorno Karabakh. Under Azerbaijani law, any such visit should be agreed with Baku authorities.

According to media reports, Azerbaijan issued an international arrest warrant for Lapshin over the violation of "the law on the state border" and the migration code.

According to other sources, the Israeli consulate in Moscow has been briefed on the matter - Lapshin is an Israeli citizen - and is taking relevant steps.
