Russia: U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan would worsen situation![]() January 24, 2017 - 13:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia's foreign ministry said on Tuesday, January 24 that any decision by the United States to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan would worsen the situation in the country, Reuters says citing Interfax news agency. The ministry said it had not spoken to the new administration of U.S. President Donald Trump about the issue. "As far as I know, Trump does not currently have any intentions to withdraw, which is logical, because if in the current environment he decides to withdraw the contingent, then everything will collapse," Interfax quoted Zamir Kabulov, special representative to the Russian president on Afghanistan, as saying. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
