Armenia, Iran agree to fight the rise of fresh regional tensions

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's advisor on international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati agreed on Thursday, February 2 that new hotbeds of tension will cause serious damage to regional security.

At the meeting, the two said it's necessary to join efforts to fight the spread of terrorism and extremism.

Velayati noted that the countries boast efficient partnership in a number of areas of economy, expressing hope that the Minister's visit will further boost cooperation in defense sector.

Weighing in on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, both officials ruled out military settlement, stressing that political solution is the only way out.
