Russian Air Force launches massive attack over northwestern Syria

PanARMENIAN.Net - Just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin completed his phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Russian Air Force began a massive assault on the militant positions in northwestern Syria, Al-Masdar News reports.

According to a military source in Hama city, the Russian Air Force began their attack during the afternoon hours, just as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was advancing along the Idlib-Hama axis.

The source said the Russian Air Force first attacked the last jihadist positions in northwestern Hama, hitting a number of sites around Al-Hobeit and Tal Sakher.

Following this attack, the Russian Air Force let loose a large number of airstrikes on northeastern Latakia and western Idlib, with the majority of the strikes targeting the key city of Jisr Al-Shughour.

The Russian Air Force would conclude their assault by targeting the jihadist rebels in western and southwestern Aleppo.

The source added the Russian Air Force struck the jihadist-held town of Khan Al-Assal, along with Khalseh and Zammar, which are also in the Aleppo countryside.
