Health Minister: Downward trend in new infections has stopped in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - A sharp decline in daily coronavirus rates in Armenia will hardly happen, given that the downward trend in new infections has stopped, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, August 20.

The Health Minister noted though that the situation in the country has stabilized compared to the previous 2-3 weeks and is now manageable.

"Taking into account the mobility of the population, the number of people returning to Armenia, I think it will be difficult to have lower numbers than those we are now having each day," Torosyan said, adding that reaching a record sharp decline in the number of new cases is going to be hard.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Armenia grew by 263 to reach 42,319 on Thursday, August 20 morning. So far, 354,76 people have recovered, 836 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 251 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
