Azerbaijan periodically violates Karabakh borders: Security Council chief

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are violating previously reached agreements and advancing their positions deep into Nagorno-Karabakh, the Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh (Karabakh), Vitaly Balasanyan, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"Azerbaijan has been repeatedly violating the conditional borders of the Republic of Artsakh. There are also periodic violations on the line of contact: the Azerbaijanis have been advancing their positions, trying to commit various provocations, but the Artsakh Defense Army does not give in to provocations," Sputnik Armenia cited Balasanyan as saying on Wednesday, January 6.

According to him, violations by Azerbaijan have been registered in the direction of Aghdam, Askeran, Stepanakert and Karmir Shuka (Red Market).

"We inform the Russian peacekeeping contingent about the violations. These issues are only partially resolved, although there are positive trends in this direction," Balasanyan added.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
