Bright Armenia wants snap elections by June 1

PanARMENIAN.Net - Bright Armenia leader Edmon Marukyan wants snap parliamentary elections by June 1. According to Marukyan there is a chance to reach a consensus on the matter, although it has not been achieved yet.

Marukyan told reporters on Monday, March 15 that the approaches of the extra-parliamentary opposition forces should be taken into account as well, Aysor.am reports.

The lawmaker also weighed in on the time frames of holding the elections, insisting that people should be given the chance to vote by June 1, which he said means the process of dissolving the parliament should start "in the next ten days."

The head of the opposition party also noted the will of the government to take the nation to snap elections.

Marukyan met President Armen Sarkissian on Saturday, March 13, within Sarkissian's discussions with parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political forces. They discussed the situation in the country and the ways to overcome the political crisis, and emphasized the importance of a dialogue between political forces and early elections in this context.
